The process of booking a car through Avis was without hassles…
Which is what you need, if you’ve a two-week road-trip coming up!
My already stressful road-trip was to involve driving from one side of Halkidiki (Greece) to the other, covering 260+ miles, where I’d be driving on the opposite side of the road – AND CAR – as well.
And so, for this, I needed to a car that would be cost efficient when it came to fuel, and, affordable with an automatic transmission.
CHOOSING YOUR CAR
Using the Avis booking system, it didn’t take long to choose the car. The search & filter options were easy to select, and within minutes, the car was booked!
My car of choice was a small 5-door Toyota Argo.
Weeks later, after landing into Thessaloniki Airport, it was now time to collect the car…
COLLECTING YOUR CAR
The collection process was also easy.
And, this is where I learned another bonus to booking with Avis:
Usually when you hire a car, you’re expected to fill-up the petrol tank upon returning the car to the depot. With Avis, they gave the option of returning the car with an empty tank, where Avis will then only charge you €53 to refill the car themselves.
Apparently, in Greece, this is a lot cheaper than filling it up yourself at a gas station.
I’m unsure if all Avis Car Depots offer this same refill option, but if hiring a car in Greece is on your agenda, they will definitely offer you this deal there.
DRIVING YOUR CAR
To drive, the car ran smoothly.
Buttons operated well; The seats were comfortable…not once did the car fail or struggle on the road.
And, throughout the two weeks, that new car smell remained the whole time!
I enjoyed the car, and it become a great companion across Halkidiki.
And, I enjoyed the experience with Avis & its staff, too. Driving is a favourite pastime of mine, and, I intend to hire cars on future trips outside of the UK…
I love the freedom that driving offers when abroad. And, because it all felt so effortless with Avis, there’s no doubt that I will be using their hire service again in the future!
